Treghan Cottage in Kerikeri is a fantastic B&B with hosts who truly go the extra mile. With three extra hours on my hands due to an excursion being cancelled on account of weather, they helped put together a half-day drive that took me up the coast for some stunning scenery and my first close look at a kauri tree. Suites are very spacious, some complete with kitchen facilities should you want to stay in for the night.

Dominion Post review

Best hosts: Wendy and Tony Waldegrave, of Treghan Cottage, Kerikeri. In a lovely suite annexed from their new house, the Waldegraves make you feel right at home. A real treat is sharing breakfast with them, when they prove to be engaging hosts. Tony is a well-known artist and the home is full of his works, which are for sale. You can even take a peek into his studio. Maybe they are so wonderful because they once lived in Wellington.

Sunday News review

Wendy, my host at another B&B tells me why she goes the extra mile "I love people, so it's not hard" she says. And if Treghan Cottage's visitors book is anything to go by, guests love her too. My room here is perfect. It's all about the details, among other luxuries, a private DVD collection, sunscreen in the bathroom, the most comfortable bed and some home made chocolate brownies - for emergencies obviously.
